Festivals
Pasqua / Caramelles
The songs in honour of the arrival of Spring and of the Christian celebration of Easter are called Caramelles and they have been sung in Rocafort for more than twenty years. In the repertoire there is always one traditional song native to the village, from a singer songwriter, "havaneres" (songs sung by seafarers), "sardines" (traditional Catalan songs) and sometimes, even some fragment of opera.
Reis
On the night of 5th January the Three Kings arrive, beautifully dressed, and they give out presents to all the children of the village.
Sant Cosme i Sant Damià
The Festival of Sant Cosme i Sant Damià is celebrated on 26th September to commemorate the vote that the village held during a plague in the 18th century. It falls on the Sunday following the 26th and consists of mass, popular songs from the village and the dance dedicated to the ancient association of Sants Metges.
Matança del porc
Around the time of Carnestoltes (Carnival time, in February) a pig is killed outdoors. There in the street the meat is butchered and sausages are made and cooked. Later on, in the evening, a free supper is laid on for everyone and the carnival celebrations take place.
Festa Major
The Festa Major is the village's own main festival of the year, held in honour of Saint Salvador and centres around the first Sunday in August. During this festival there are always "giants" and musicians from the village playing the "graller" and "flabiol" (traditional wind instruments).
