History
Rocafort de Vallbona has medieval origins; there is written evidence of its castle, or defensive fort, from the year 1173. This is constructed upon an immense rock with which the structure built on top of it makes a perfect amalgam. This building has recently been restored and is inhabited.
The village has those characteristics associated with a medieval village - houses piled upon top of each other, with narrow, winding streets all on differing levels, almost certainly done on purpose to hinder any enemy attack. It's possible to follow the village's defensive wall in which a portal still remains.
Rocafort was part of the baronial estate of Vallbona for centuries.
It has an 18th c. church dedicated to Saint Salvador, with a bell tower which dates back to 1868.
